An Atlanta Regional Commission representative and Lilburn staff presented an update of the Comprehensive Plan 2019 at the city’s recent council meeting, the second public input opportunity in the planning process. The first took place in Sept. At the meeting Oct. 8, the city council approved transmitting the draft document to the Department of Community Affairs.

Every 5 years municipalities are required to update their Comprehensive Plan, which sets the direction and focus for planning for the city for the next five years. A steering committee made up of 8 to 10 Lilburn resident volunteers have been meeting over the past few months to identify assets and challenges, identify goals, and help develop a plan. Topics in Lilburn’s plan include transportation, housing, broadband access, future development, and new community work programs. A draft of the Comprehensive Plan will be available for residents to view at Lilburn City Hall and on the city’s website: www.cityoflilburn.com. The goal is to have a final plan approved by Feb. 2019.
