Loganville officials have said Lee Byrd Road between Highway 81 and Bay Creek Road will re-open to public traffic by Sept. 5. The Loganville City Council recently approved funding of the change order for the project and work resumed this week.
Lee Byrd Road was closed on July 5 to local traffic to replace a culvert about 1/4 mile north of Bay Creek Road at Big Flat Creek. The city had hoped the project would be completed before school traffic resume at the nearby Bay Creek Elementary School.
The project stalled at the beginning of August when Loganville Highways and Streets officials determined the contractor had not met the necessary requirements to open Lee Byrd Road to the public. The Loganville City Council called a special meeting to approve the necessary funding for the redesign of the project.
