The Johns Creek Police Department has announced two new phone lines intended for homeowners when out of town, who see something amiss on their home video systems or whose unmonitored alarms sound an intruder alert.

The “D.I.Y. Alarm Line,” 404-843-6680, is a direct line to a Johns Creek police dispatcher.

"In the past, if you observed something suspicious on your camera, you would have to call 911 and ask whichever jurisdiction you were in to transfer you to Johns Creek – losing valuable time," according to a city announcement. "You can now call and immediately tell the Johns Creek dispatcher what is happening."

A Non-Emergency Line, 404-843-6670, puts callers in touch with a police dispatcher for non-emergency situations.

Those who need assistance while in Johns Creek should continue to call 911, police said. Police also remind residents that a Vacation Watch service is available; homeowners can ask that officers check on their properties while they’re out of town.
