Feb 7, 2019Johns Creek has announced the move of a historic smokehouse and the completion of a parking lot upgrade at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve.
The more-than 100-year-old smokehouse was moved from a site off Rogers Bridge Road in the Shakerag area of Johns Creek, officials said.
The parking lot received a porous flexible grid for 40 vehicles plus three handicapped spots, as well as sufficient radius to accommodate a bus turnaround next to the Visitors Center. The City Council last fall awarded the $137,589 parking lot contract to Precision Landscape Management.
Mayor Pro Tem Lenny Zaprowski and Council Member John Bradberry joined city and Autrey Mill staff Feb. 5 to cut the ribbon for the two projects.
