Jimmy Carter Boulevard closing postponed

The closure of Jimmy Carter Boulevard at I-85, scheduled for Nov. 14-17, has been postponed.

The new dates have not been announced. The bridge over I-85 will be closed to complete construction of a diverging diamond interchange.

The delay will allow the installation of the bridge side barrier and truss system, raised concrete medians and lighting at the interchange, as well as paving on road near the bridge.

A new flex lane will also be added between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Indian Trial Road. It should allow traffic to flow better onto I-85 north. That ramp will be widened, as well.
