UPDATE: 8Arm passed its June 28 reinspection with an 85, according to the Fulton County Board of Health.
ORIGINAL STORY: A trendy restaurant in Poncey-Highland received a failing health score after an inspector saw a roach and other violations.
8Arm, located at 710 Ponce de Leon Avenue, received a score of 67 – its second failing score in three months, according to the Fulton County Health Department. Anything below 70 is considered failing.
The inspector saw what she called “live pest activity” and said the roach was “crawling near a reach in cooler and near a mop sink in the main kitchen area,” according to the health report.
Other violations include: an employee drinking beverages while preparing food, failure to properly restrain hair and an excess accumulation of pooled water on the floor of the outside bar area.

Last week, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reviewed the restaurant, which recently hired Maricela Vega — who specializes in vegetarian and vegan fare — as its new executive chef. The eatery received three out of four stars.
Owner Nhan Le said the restaurant has worked to get the business up to code since Monday’s inspection, including purchasing a new cooler.
“We have a new staff and are going through training everybody,” Le said. He has also organized staff to take a training course with the Fulton County Health Department.
This is the second time the restaurant has failed its health inspection this year. In March, it received a 56. The business scored at 93 during a subsequent check in April.
