Indian restaurant in Cobb passes re-inspection even with dirty kitchen

An Indian restaurant in Marietta passed its re-inspection even though it had food debris on knives, a cutting board and produce peelers, according to Cobb County health department records.

Curry Leaf Indian Grill on Windy Hill Road scored a 78 on Tuesday. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.

There was also grease on the some food equipment, the inspector wrote.

The eatery was also docked points for not having an employee with a food safety certificate.

There was also a cooler of food thrown out because it was too warm, according to the report.

A recently opened Indian restaurant in Marietta has failed a health inspection, according to Cobb County health department records.

Curry Leaf Indian Grill, 3000 Windy Hill Road, scored a 64 on Tuesday. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.

The eatery, which an owner said opened in September, has no prior inspection listed online.

Curry Leaf was docked points for employees improperly washing their hands; workers were seen touching their face and/or hair and then handling utensils.

Sometimes employees just rinsed their hands instead of using soap.

Another person was seen dicing tomatoes with bare hands. The inspector made them pitch the tomatoes.

Another violation was a too-warm cooler.

The inspector also cited the restaurant because “food contact surfaces are not clean to sight and touch.” Food debris was found on knives, pans, produce peelers.

A man who claimed to be an owner but refused to give his full name told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he is reviewing hand-washing procedures and getting a new refrigerator.

He refuted the claim of the dirty kitchen equipment.

Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
