Two illegal gambling operations have been shut down in Forsyth County for allegedly giving out cash payments.

Deputies executed search warrants at two businesses, including the Hammond's Crossing Exxon on Keith Bridge Road and the Save Money Food Mart on Hutchinson Road, Capt. Tim House with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said. Investigators seized more than $13,000 in the raids, which followed a two-month investigation.

Exxon store owner Nahidul Hassan Khan was arrested and charged with commercial gambling and operating a gambling place, House said. An employee of the store, Mohammed Zahangir Alam, also faces a felony gambling charge.

Additional arrest warrants have also been obtained and more arrests are expected, House said.
