House deemed unfit by Henry County commissioners

The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted Dec. 3 to approve abatement proceedings for a property at 115 Little John Trail in Hampton which has been abandoned since a 2015 fire that caused severe damage.

County officials found that the owners of the property are deceased and an inspection by code enforcement personnel revealed that it is unfit for human habitation and in violation of a number of county codes. It was determined by officials that the action is necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of county residents, followed by a property maintenance lien on the property to recoup the costs involved.
