The Holly Springs City Council approved one controversial rezoning and development case Monday night, but tabled another.
The council voted 3-2 to approve developer Stephen Macauley’s proposal to expand the current Harmony On the Lakes mixed-use development near Hickory and Stringer roads by more than 200 additional homes. The rezoning to planned development residential had been opposed by a number of current Harmony residents, who objected to connectivity plans between the old and new development and potential traffic issues.
The council also voted 5-0 to table a proposed age-targeted development on Vaughan road for 64 residential units, three to an acre. Council members did approve a land use agreement between the city, Cherokee County and Bethany Properties Group LLC on density and other issues. Neighbors had objected to the proposed density.
The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners was to consider the case Tuesday night.
