Fayette Senior Services has begun a funding campaign to provide holiday meals to homebound older citizens.
Its Project Love focuses specifically on meals delivered on weekends and holidays to seniors who may not have other means of obtaining vital nutrition. Holiday service is not covered by the general funding FSS receives for weekday Meals on Wheels. The organization, whose volunteers deliver 56,000 meals per year, notes that meal deliveries may also be the only daily social contact or well-being checks many seniors receive. Project Love’s campaign goal for this holiday season is $30,000, or approximately $5 per meal, which is tax-deductible.
