DeKalb County’s 2020 property appraisals are in the mail.

County officials said the appraisals were scheduled to be sent out Friday and will be hitting property owners’ mailboxes soon. Appraisals are not bills, but the property values therein are used later to calculate property taxes.

While the property appraisal office is currently closed to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic, staff will still be available by phone or email to address questions and concerns. The main phone line is 404-371-0841 and more specific contact information will be provided on appraisal notices.

The mailing date starts a 45-day appeal period that will run through July 13.

Property owners wishing to file an appeal are encouraged to do so online. Information on that process can be found here.

Alternatively, appeal forms found here can be printed out and mailed to Property Appraisal Department, Maloof Annex, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.

Printed appeals can also be deposited in a drop box outside the appraisal office.
