Just like print, love isn’t dead.
Duluth resident Kevin Wieting knew his girlfriend, Janice Hatcher, of Dawsonville, loved to read the newspaper every day. He also knew that he wanted to marry her.
He decided to propose through a classified ad and placed one each in the Dawson County News and the Gainesville Times on Jan. 18, according to a story in the Times.
After proposing over dinner in Atlanta, Wieting showed Hatcher the printed testament of his love.
She knew they would be getting engaged soon — they had picked out the engagement ring together — but the ad, which featured a photo of the couple and some of their inside jokes, was an extra meaningful thought, Hatcher told the Times.
Hatcher and Wieting are planning a July wedding.
The happy couple wasn’t immediately available for comment.
