Gwinnett gets donations for transportation, exhibit

Feb 16, 2011

Gwinnett County has received donations for transportation for seniors and the disabled and for an interactive learning exhibit.

The Board of Commissioners on Tuesday accepted a $39,371 donation from the Friends of Gwinnett Senior Services. The money will be used for a transportation voucher program for senior citizens and the disabled. The vouchers will help pay for essential trips, with priority given to medical appointments.

Commissioners also accepted a $12,840 contribution from the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center Foundation. The money will pay for the center’s “Your House, My House” exhibit, which helps visitors understand how geography, climate and culture shape the way people live around the world.
