Gov. Nathan Deal announced on Tuesday ambitious plans for investing $10 billion over a decade in massive transportation projects that could reshape metro Atlanta.
The plan includes a multibillion-dollar expansion of I-285 and Ga. 400.
“We promised the people of the state of Georgia that we would show them results, and that is what we are doing here today," Gov. Deal said.
Plans that will affect Cobb County and Cherokee County include:
- I-285 West wall express lanes from I-20 to I-75
- I-285/I-20 West interchange
- Northwest Corridor: 30 miles of new lanes along I-75 from Akers Mill Road to Hickory Grove Road and along I-575 from I-75 to Sixes Road
- I-285 revive express lanes from I-75 to I-85
