AWARE Wildlife Center is seeking animal caregivers to perform basic animal care under the supervision of a wildlife care supervisor. This includes, but is not limited to, animal feeding, cage cleaning, food preparation, laundry, dishes, sweeping, and mopping. Volunteers may also assist in other animal care procedures as needed. No previous wildlife experience is needed, but all volunteers must:

Be prompt, dependable, and at least 18 years of age.

Sign a waiver relieving AWARE of any liability in the case of injury or illness.

Provide proof of a current tetanus shot.

Maintain current vaccinations on all domestic pets in their household.

Be prepared and willing to get dirty and perform the less glamorous jobs like laundry, dishes, cleaning up poop, feeding things like worms, dead fish and rodents, and other such tasks that are a required part of animal care.

Provide proof of current rabies vaccination if working with rabies-vector species.

If requested, provide personal references and agree to a background check.

Pay a one-time $30 commitment fee. Students pay $20 with a current student id.

Complete the Volunteer Application.

There is a significant investment in training animal caregivers. You must commit to a minimum of six months of volunteering with one 5-hour shift per week. You must be available to volunteer for the same 5-hour shift on the same day each week.
