South Fulton Senior Services seeks Meals on Wheels volunteers

South Fulton Senior Services Inc. is a non-profit agency whose mission is to provide a range of services and activities that promote wellness, wholeness and self-sufficiency for adults 60 and older who reside in South Fulton.

The organization has serviced the South Fulton community for 26 years and in order to sustain the current lelve of support it needs volunteers for the Meals on Wheels program. The service area includes East Point, Hapeville, College Park, Union City, Fairburn and Palmetto.

Give Back to Piedmont Park with Green Team

Branch out and head outside with organizers at Piedmont Park to have some fun while making a dramatic difference in Piedmont Park. Green Team volunteers sustain and transform Piedmont Park by working together to make the park a more beautiful place. Projects are outdoors and may include pruning, weeding, mulching, collecting trash, rooting out invasive species, etc. Ideal for a families, individuals or groups.

Volunteer must be at least 14 years old and sign a liability waived. Volunteers under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian volunteer with them, and those under 18 must have the waiver signed in advance by their parent or legal guardian. Court-ordered volunteers are accepted. Must be pre-approved by the Conservancy.

Food rescue seeks volunteers

Volunteers with Second Helpings Atlanta rescue food from a network of food donors, transport it to partner agencies and return home in 90 minutes or less. Many food pickups and deliveries (routes) occur in the early morning during the week. However, new routes are continually added, many of which occur on Saturdays and Sundays.

Volunteers typically pick up and deliver food once a month. Second Helpings Atlanta also needs volunteers for event planning, accounting, grant writing, law, fundraising, social media, PR, etc.

Volunteers needed to provide computer training for seniors

The Gwinnett SenioR Learning Center provides reasonably priced computer classes for seniors ages 50 and older and is currently seeking volunteers to teach, coach, write training manuals and provide other support needs. Volunteers should be ages 50 and older and have a good foundation of basic computer skills.
