Nearly 4,075 freshmen -- a record for Georgia State University -- will be walking around the downtown Atlanta campus when classes resume Aug. 22. The freshman class is about 7 percent larger than last year's and is the university's most diverse, officials said Friday.
The campus is known for its diversity and the freshman class set records in two areas -- 16 percent of freshmen are Asian and 9 percent are Hispanic. The majority of freshmen are minorities, with 34 percent of the students black and 41 percent white.
