Beginning July 1, Marietta will designate the areas near Franklin and Delk Roads as a new Drug Free Commercial Zone to attempt to reduce illegal drug violations.

Offenders inside of this zone will be subject to increased fines, extended imprisonment and not be permitted back into this zone for no more than two years.

Signs will be placed around the zone boundaries to show all incoming persons the area has been designated as drug free.

The Marietta Police Department will be saturating the zoned area to locate offenders in hopes of reducing drug-related crimes.

Besides this new program, the police also have implemented other programs in the Franklin Road area, including Crime Free Housing, the Crime Reduction Program for Designated Apartment Complexes and the Pal Program to improve the quality of life for those residents.

Anyone desiring to make a complaint regarding illegal drug activities in that zone may contact the Anonymous Tip Line at 770-794-6990.
