The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners has scheduled public hearings for May 3 on short-term vacation rentals, massage parlors and alcoholic drink specials.

The hearings are to begin at 5 p.m. in the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming.

A proposed ordinance regulating short-term residential rentals would require a minimum occupancy of at least seven days and/or six nights; a short-term rental permit from the county; and fees of $100 for an initial application and $50 per annual renewal, among other requirements.

For massage parlors, Forsyth seeks to amend an existing ordinance to require enhanced identification and fingerprint background checks; and authorize the denial of a massage license or permit based on prior ordinance violations, among other issues.

The Forsyth alcohol ordinance currently prohibits discounted drink specials; the county proposes exempting “bona fide loyalty-based program(s) or membership-based program(s).” Certain restrictions would apply.
