The Forsyth County School District announced it is accepting out-of-district requests until Jan. 18 for students wishing to attend a school other than their “home” school.

An out-of-district request must be completed when such a student is moving from elementary to middle school, or middle to high school; moving into or within the county; or requesting a change from a currently approved, out-of-district school, officials said. Schools at or over capacity for the 2019-20 school year cannot approve such requests for new students; nor can schools that have been redistricted to relieve overcrowding, for three years, except for specific high school program needs. Students already approved for an out-of-district school can continue attending it without submitting an annual request, as long as the original reason for the request remains the same, officials said.
