Road widening projects and a new voter registration office got the blessing of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners.

The board voted to approve phases 2 and 3 of the Old Atlanta Road widening project, awarding two contracts worth a combined approximately $12. 2 million to Vertical Earth, Inc. Phase 2 stretches from Sharon Road to Nichols Road, with phase 3 from McGinnis Ferry Road to St. Marlow Country Club Parkway.

The board also voted approved a request for proposals for architectural design services for a new, combined voter registrations and elections department building which would be located on Sawnee Drive. The approximately 15,000-square-foot building would bring geographically separate operations together.
