Both north and south Forsyth County will be equipped with new fire stations by the end of 2016. The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners late next week awarded a contract to build Fire Station 8 ff of Keith Bridge Road in north Forsyth, as well as Station 6 near Ga. 141 in the county’s southern portion.

Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said Station 8 will replace an outmoded facility built by volunteers at the same site in the 1980s, while Station 6 will be a new facility that will go in at Caney and Brookwod roads, and will fill in a coverage gap in southeast Forsyth. There is no current station of that number.

D.A. Edwards and Company was awarded an approximately $5.6 million contract to construct both facilities.

Commissioners also awarded a construction contract for phase one of Lanierland Park to Reeves Young LLC for a maximum of $9.2 million.
