Having had a positive response to its “Summer of Love” promotion in which pet adoption fees were more than halved to $40, the Forsyth County Animal Shelter announced it is now waiving all adoption fees through Sept. 1.

“We have a large number of animals, including an abundance of kittens, that are in need of a home during this time of year,” said Animal Shelter Manager Cindy Iacopella. “We are hopeful that enhancing this promotion will help families be able to bring a new companion home.”

The Summer of Love launched in June with adoption fees reduced to $40 from $85. The fee covers microchipping for all pets, spaying and neutering and age-appropriate vaccinations, officials said.

The shelter, at 4065 County Way, is open for adoptions from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. It also seeks volunteers, those willing to foster animals, and donations of such items as pet food, toys and bedding. Information: 678-965-7185 or www.forsythco.com/animalshelter.
