A former White County sheriff’s deputy was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison Tuesday for producing child pornography.
Christopher Thomas Davis, 34, of Dahlonega, pleaded guilty to the charge in September.
After his prison term, Davis must serve 15 years of supervised release and register as a sex offender.
Prosecutors said that between May 18, 2009 and June 25, 2009, Davis took photographs of a 7-year-old girl engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The photos were taken inside Davis’ home, according to prosecutors.
“The defendant violated the trust of a young girl and his community,” U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a statement. “That the defendant committed this offense while serving as a law enforcement officer makes this crime that much more atrocious.”
