After a busy week at four Henry County public schools distributing food to families of students, school district officials are expanding the program and will utilize six school locations.

The district’s school nutrition department will now serve families at Locust Grove Elementary, Hampton Middle, McDonough Middle, Stockbridge Middle, Oakland Elementary and Wesley Lakes Elementary. Families are able to bring their children to any of the six serving locations during the extended school closure between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to receive a lunch for that day and a prepared breakfast for the following day.

According to federal guidelines for distribution, children must be present in the vehicle to receive the meals. In the first three days of meal distribution at the four original locations, district officials said they saw an average of nearly 1,400 children receive the breakfast/lunch combo.
