Cobb County participates in the Community Rating System that recognizes voluntary community floodplain management activities that exceed National Flood Insurance Program standards, according to a county statement.

This participation yields reduced flood insurance premium rates for policyholders in Special Flood Hazard Areas.

Those ratings include CRS ratings of :

  • eight for unincorporated Cobb County and for Marietta, yielding a 10 percent discount for policy holders in the specified hazard areas.
  • seven for Austell which yields a 15 percent discount.
  • six for Powder Springs which yields a 20 percent discount.
