Qualifying fees for next November’s election were established this week by Decatur’s commission, thoughthe fees have remained steadfast for at least 20 years: $144 for city commission, or 3 percent of the commission salary, and $35 for the school board, whose members take no salary.
Five are up for re-election: commissioners Jim Baskett (mayor), Kecia Cunningham (mayor pro tem) and Scott Drake, along with school-board members Garrett Goebel (chair) and Julie Rhame (vice chair). Qualifying is in mid-September.
