The City of Fayetteville has chosen Scott Gray as its new chief of police. Gray, who begins his new duties Thursday, is the former North Precinct commander of the Henry County Police Department. He was among 12 candidates interviewed to fill the post, replacing interim chief Jeff McMullan.

Former police chief Scott Pitts resigned in September after serving for three years. Gray has been with Henry County since 2003, and earned a master’s degree in public safety administration from Columbus State University last year. He also spent 10 years on the police force in Lake City.
