A Fayetteville man was arrested Tuesday for causing injury to his infant son.

Jamal Thomas, 20, was charged with cruelty to children in the first degree, said Brent Rowan, a spokesman with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. The injuries inflicted on the 9-week-old boy occurred last Saturday, he said.

Thomas is being held without bond in the Fayette jail. Rowan declined comment on the extent of the infant's injuries, citing an "active investigation."
