Fairburn will elect a mayor and two City Council seats on Nov. 7

Fairburn’s qualifying periond for two city council seats ended Aug. 23. Mayor Marion Avery isn’t seeking re-election. The lone candidate for mayor, Elizabeth Carr-Hurst will run unopposed. The following candidates will be on the ballot for city council:

The mayor and City Council are elected by the entire city and serve “at large” rather than representing various districts. Each year at the first regularly scheduled meeting in January, the Council elects a Mayor Pro tem from among its members.

Persons who wish to vote in the election must be registered by Oct. 10. Voting takes place at First Baptist Church, 23 Malone St.
