The Henry County Board of Education voted at its Aug. 12 regular meeting to grand an easement request from Bellsouth Communications regarding Oakland Elementary School.
The company requested access to a five-foot strip of land from the public right-of-way on Hwy. 81 to an existing utility light pole. According to officials, this will allow small AT&T wireless equipment to be placed on the pole for increased wireless capabilities.
The location of the project was identified as being in the front of the school, and the installers are expected to use the easement to run the necessary wiring underground to the pole.
