The Duluth City Council recently voted to set qualifying fees for the next municipal election to be held Nov. 5. The offices held by Mayor Nancy Harris, council member Kelvin “Kelly” Kelkenberg, and council member Greg Whitlock will expire on the second Monday in Jan. 2020.
Anyone interesting in running for the office of mayor and city council member may qualify beginning at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 19 and before 4:30 p.m. Aug. 21 in the office of the City Clerk at City Hall, 3167 Main St.
Citizens seeking to run for the position of mayor will pay a qualifying fee of $288 and those wanting to qualify for office of council member will pay a qualifying fee of $180. All qualifying fees must be paid at the time of qualifying.
