The Duluth Alcohol Review Board has approved an amendment to change the definition for a ‘Special Events Facility’ to allow more flexibility for businesses to become eligible and apply for this type of license. Additional changes would allow renters of such facilities to provide alcohol for their guests.

Currently, the only time alcohol may be brought on premise of an establishment that holds an occupational tax or exemption certificate, without a full retail or consumption on premise license, is with an art shop license in a commercial zoning district. The Duluth City Council will vote on the amendment at the city’s next council meeting March 9.
