The Duluth City Council entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement on Dec. 14 with Gwinnett County to relocate and replace the existing Duluth Library.

The agreement requires the county to provide elevations and to consult with the city regarding the design of the library. The agreement also requires the county to complete construction within five years from the time the land is turned over by Duluth.

Duluth is required to supply seven parcels of land comprising 2.26 acres in the downtown area for the library. Entrances are planned from Main Street, Hardy Street and South Peachtree Street until the Davenport Road extension is complete.

All but one of the seven parcels is currently owned by the city. The city will acquire the remaining lot, owned by Johnny Boyett prior to construction.
