The Doraville Planning Commission recommended approval of a conditional use permit and zoning variance to operate a church at 6113 Buford Highway.

During its Jan. 20 meeting, the commission suggested the applicant, Ministerio El Unigenito de Dios, sound-proof the second floor, where church services would be held. It also recommended that no additional lighting be added to the outside of the property to avoid a lighting nuisance during the evenings.

The commission voted unanimously to recommend the city council approve both the conditional use permit and variance, with the conditions that two parking spaces be added to the parking lot, and that the church’s business hours and services do not overlap with that of Jenny’s Place, a wholesale women’s clothing store on the first floor of the property.
