The fog that prompted a dense fog advisory for metro Atlanta had lifted and the sun was peeking through the clouds late Wednesday morning, but forecasters predicted rain would return and hang around through the weekend.
Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said there’s a 20 percent chance of rain Wednesday, but no huge downpours are expected. That won’t be the case later in the week.
The chance of rain increases to 50 percent Thursday and 70 percent Friday, Minton said.
Temperatures will be unseasonably warm, with highs in the upper 60s Wednesday, low 70s Thursday and mid-70s Friday and lows through Friday in the low 60s.
The rain chance will linger through the weekend, with cooler temperatures moving in Saturday and Sunday, Minton said.
She said there’s a 50 percent chance of rain Saturday, along with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the low 50s.
The rain chance goes up to 70 percent Sunday, when highs will again be in the mid-50s after morning lows in the 40s.
