A Delta Air Lines employee’s family is seeking answers after his “suspicious” death in Africa.

Francis Iniekpo, 57, an aeronautical engineer from Douglasville, traveled to Nigeria earlier this month to visit his mother for the first time in 24 years, his family told Channel 2 Action News.

The day before he was scheduled to return home, relatives in Nigeria found him dead.

Iniekpo’s family said his relatives in Nigeria waited a day to tell them he died, praying over his body. Now, the family is having trouble bringing his body back to the U.S., Channel 2 reported.

The body has been embalmed, which could affect an investigation into the cause of death, the station reported. The family also said Nigerian authorities will not release the body until they decide if they will investigate.
