Decatur announced recently that former employee Teresa Taylor has been hired as the new assistant city manager-administrative services beginning April 22. Taylor is currently the assistant manager for La Grange, and before that was an assistant to the city manager in Chamblee.

But she began her local government career as an International City-County Management Association Fellow with Decatur from 2012-14.

She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from Emory University and a Master of Public Administration in Management and Finance from Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University.

The city received more than 200 applications after a nearly four-month-long nationwide search. Taylor essentially assumes the position vacated by Andrea Arnold, who became Decatur’s city manager on Jan. 1.

Decatur has 225 fulltime employees including three assistant city managers and a deputy city manager.
