Decatur superintendent Phyllis Edwards has spent last week moving out of her office into a smaller space across the hall to make room for her successor David Dude, who began work Monday.
“One thing I’ve tried to do,” she said, “is provide him with a number of documents like our master plan, strategic plan, enrollment reports and years’ worth of board packets. I want to give him a sense of what we’ve been doing, and provide him with the things I didn’t have when I started so the transition can be as smooth as possible.”
Edwards still remains uncertain about her last day. Her contract requires her to remain for two weeks after Dude arrives, which would be Nov.13, but she said that date isn’t yet official.
