The Cumming City Council gave final approval to the city’s 2017 budget during the governing body’s final meeting of 2016.

Most budget categories show a slight to moderate increase from 2016 figures, such as the administrative portion of the document, planning and zoning, parks and recreation and streets. One exception is the police department budget, which is dropping by nearly $100,000 because municipal court operations are being broken out as a separate category. The first-year municipal court budget comes in at $385,000.

The capital improvements portion of the budget dropped from roughly $1,460,000 to $804,000 because of the completion of pending projects.
