Cox Enterprises announced Thursday it has committed $800,000 in cash and in-kind donations to tornado relief efforts.
The money will be used to help in the relief, recovery and rebuilding efforts in those areas hit hard by severe weather, including Alabama, Georgia and Missouri.
"This series of storms has brought shocking devastation, and I'm proud of the response from our employees and businesses to help their neighbors and communities in need," said Jimmy Hayes, president and CEO of Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises, which owns The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The commitment includes $100,000 to the American Red Cross and $700,000 of in-kind services from Cox Media Group and AutoTrader.com. The events Cox promoted raised nearly $1 million in additional donations.
