Georgia’s seventh-largest school district is projected to continue as one of the fastest-growing in the U.S.

Officials with the Forsyth County Schools said student enrollment is projected to reach 47,985 in FY 2018, an increase of 1,721 students or 3.2 percent from the year before.

Put in a longer time frame, officials said that since 2001 enrollment has grown by 170 percent and that the district has opened 21 new schools.

Two new schools are scheduled to debut in August 2018 that are expected to help handle growth. Denmark High School and the Alliance Academy for Innovation are under construction now.
