The Lilburn Planning Commission has recommended approval of a special use permit to allow AutoMax, run by Mohsin Ashfaque, to expand automobile sales on 2.3 acres at 5054 Lawrenceville Highway. AutoMax had hoped to also reduce the 40-foot buffer along property lines abutting residentially zoned property. Ashfaque plans to expand the existing business with only the rear of the property used for auto inventory.
After reviewing resident’s concerns, the Planning Commission moved to recommend approval maintaining the 40-foot buffer, installation of a 6-foot opaque fence, and two staggered rows of Leyland Cypress. In addition, Ashfaque committed to installation of maximum height of 25-foot light poles with auto shut-off fixtures.
