The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to pay $167,057 to The LPA Group for a master plan update of Cobb County Airport - McCollum Field.
However, the county will pay only 10 percent with the remainder coming from an anticipated Federal Aviation Administration grant.
The commissioners also established a new job position at the airport that will need to be filled quickly to support the increased activity scheduled at the airport this summer with the opening of the Customs Inspection Facility on June 25 to accommodate international flights.
The senior contract/projects manager will receive an initial salary of nearly $33,000 but future annual salary and fringe benefits of $102,585.
This person also will assist in managing other airport projects such as a north apron rehabilitation/expansion project and approach lights - both now under design.
