Clayton County has hired a lobbyist to fight a proposed bill that would keep the county from collecting taxes from vendors at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. County commissioners voted 3-2 this week to hire Murphy Talmadge of Twelve Oaks LLC in Lovejoy to urge state senators to vote against House Bill 399. If the bill becomes law, the county could lose millions in potential revenue. Talmadge registered as a lobbyist on March 11, according to information filed with the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission. The bill is making its way through the committee process in the senate.
