Clayton County Commissioner Sonna Singleton Gregory is hosting the Northeast Senior Center Design Reveal Event, according to a press release.

The public is invited to attend this free community event to learn about the benefits and amenities that will be available in Clayton County’s newest senior center. Participants can enjoy a virtual walk-through of the facility and the opportunity to view interactive displays, which highlight the center’s features.

Local senior citizens and county officials will also participate in a ceremonial “turning of the sod” to commemorate the construction of the state of the art facility, which will be located at 3161 Anvil Block Road in Ellenwood.

Some of the amenities include a media center, kitchen, indoor swimming pool, multi-purpose room for educational programs, fitness facility and a community garden. This is a SPLOST funded project.

The event takes place 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at Carl Rhodenizer Recreation Center, 3499 Rex Road, Rex.
