Fulton County is hosting four days of eye screenings this week for children who may need glasses.
The county’s inaugural public manager program class — a leadership development training program for mid- to upper-level managers — has partnered with non-profit Vision To Learn, the Atlanta Hawks Foundation and Chick-fil-A Foundation for the event.
Vision To Learn estimates 24,000 school-age youth need eyeglasses in Fulton and DeKalb counties, according to a news release. The locations are all in Fulton, but screenings are not exclusive to Fulton residents.
To determine whether a child needs to undergo a full exam, he or she will first be screened to check for possible vision impairments. Should glasses be needed, the child can choose the frames and receive the spectacles, at the location of the exam, later in July.
Children in kindergarten through 12th grade can be registered for free eye screenings by calling 404-612-5556.
