Cherokee County will spend more than $105,000 to acquire 25 TASERS and four camera license plate readers for the Sheriff’s Office.
The Cherokee Board of Commissioners recently approved the $34,897.56 purchase of the TASERS including holsters, cartridges and battery packs for sheriff’s deputies certified to use the equipment in uniform patrol and at the Adult Detention Facility.
The gear will be acquired direct from the manufacturer, Axon Enterprise Inc. of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Separately, commissioners authorized a $70,600 amendment to the SPLOST 2012 budget for the four license plate readers.
