Cherokee County invites residents to two forums to review the draft 2018 Update to the Cherokee County Comprehensive Plan, which the county describes as its roadmap for future development.
The forums are set for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the Cherokee County Administration Building, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton; and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Cherokee County Recreation Center, 7545 Main St., Woodstock. To view the plan: https://bit.ly/2KZ9Q4K
“We are in the home stretch with a draft plan posted for everyone to review,” the county said.
The plan focuses on six “Target Areas”: Airport Area, Ball Ground, Hickory Flat, Highway 20 East, Southwest Cherokee and Waleska.
Strategies for the Airport Area, for example, include more local retailing and services and preserving prime industrial land; for Ball Ground, pursuing a grocery store and parks and open spaces; and for Waleska, developing a village center and connecting new development to the city with roads, sidewalks and trails.
